Monika Restaurant
The Story of Monika
Welcome to Monika Restaurants, where every dish created in our kitchen celebrates authentic West African flavours, culture, and community. Now open in the heart of Deptford, we welcome all ages to an unforgettable, luxurious yet casual dining experience. We are a seafood and open-grill restaurant, proud to be part of the award-winning 805 Restaurant Group. Our mission is to share our story with the world.
We have created a space where culture and taste come together, and we pride ourselves on remaining true to the authentic flavours of West Africa in all of our dishes.
For our interior, we have spent a lot of time ensuring that our décor reflects the essence of West African culture, with bold patterns, earthy tones, and a modern touch of elegance. We have perfected our dishes, bringing the vibrant flavours and spices of a West Africa to our guests. Our beloved seafood and chargrilled meat dishes—not to mention our delicious cocktails! Our restaurant offers an accessible, fun, and friendly environment, perfect for unwinding. Why not book with us for your next date night or gathering with friends and family?
Monika is the perfect place to celebrate your special occasions.
We named our restaurant after the famous and iconic Monika fish, a whole grilled popular fish dish to honour an incredible dish that was created by the pioneers of 805 restaurant Mr Frederick James and Mrs Damaris James.
Monkia Fish has now become symbolic and a traditional favourite in the Nigerian community. Monika fish represents the rich culinary heritage and high standards that the 805 Restaurant Group is known for.
This whole grilled croaker fish is marinated in our special home seasonings and spices, then chargrilled to lock in a
delicious smoky flavour that complements the dish. The fish is finished with a generous amount
of our spicy Monika sauce.
